Pia is a small team in Jabalpur, building for the 22:14 reconciliation nobody else respects. We hire slowly, calibrate hard, and pay honestly. This page tells you who we are, who we're looking for, and how the conversation starts.
What you'll actually work on
Most days are some combination of: a 3-paragraph design doc that becomes a PR by the afternoon, a 40-minute call with a real pharmacy owner in MP, and a sharp internal review on whether the new thing held up against the Eleven principles. Every commit ships, every shipped commit gets opinions, every opinion is on the table.
Who we're looking for
We're open to senior generalists across these shapes. None are static job posts — if your shape rhymes with one of these, write to us.
Product engineer (full-stack)
You've shipped at least one product end-to-end. You're fast in a frontend stack and not afraid of the backend. You write small commits with clear messages. You read PRs before reviewing them.
Mobile engineer (React Native)
You've shipped to the Play Store. You know what a 60Hz render budget feels like under a slow GC. You think CLS > 0 is a personal failing.
ML / applied-AI engineer
You can move between prompt design, evaluation harnesses, and the production hot path without getting confused which is which. You read papers but ship pipelines.
Founding designer
You design in Figma but you can also write the CSS. You believe Hindi is a peer, not a translation. You've done a 14-hour stretch with a real pharmacist and learned something the dashboards didn't show.
How we hire
- 30-minute call with the founder. Hindi, English, or Hinglish. We talk about what you've built recently and what you wish you'd built differently.
- One paid take-home, capped at six hours. Real Pia work, not a puzzle. We pay ₹5,000 for the time whether we move forward or not.
- One full-day pairing session. In Jabalpur if you can travel, otherwise on Zoom. You ship one change with us, end-to-end.
- References + offer. We call two people who've worked with you. The offer is one number, your call.
We close on every candidate inside three weeks. If we say no, we tell you why in writing.
What we offer
- Cash: Indian-market top-quartile for the role. We'll show you the calibration before the offer call.
- Equity: meaningful, on a four-year vest with a one-year cliff. No phantom-stock games.
- Tools: a recent MacBook, a phone we picked together, and any reasonable software ask gets a yes the same day.
- Where: hybrid. We're in Jabalpur. We expect you in person two days a week if you're in MP, twice a quarter if you're not.
- What we won't offer: a fast title ladder, a manager track in year one, or remote work permanently. We're a small team that needs to be in a room together more often than not.
